It was definitely great weather for a golf tournament at the nest golf club in Little River on Saturday but it wasnt just any tournament.
The club and its owner, Senator Dick Elliott held a benefit to raise money for the South Carolina school for the deaf and the blind.
The school presented the senator with a hearts & hands award for his support. Money was raised through participant entry fees and sponsorships.
All proceeds raised will go toward program assistance for deaf and blind students.
Being handicapped in that way is a very critical handicap for those that are effected with deafness or sight loss and this program provides some help in instructions and teachers for sign languages and other help that deaf and blind folks need, said Elliott.
The school offers services to people who are deaf or blind, their families and the professionals who serve them through K-12 education programs on the main campus in Spartanburg.
Senator Elliott also said that the goal of the event was to raise $10,000.
